Configure Lock Screen Message for iOS Devices with Intune
We will now go through the steps to configure lock screen message for iOS devices. The first step involves creating a new configuration profile and using the Settings Catalog to configure the lock screen message for iOS devices. We’ll then assign the configuration profile to iOS users or devices and test the configuration.
- Sign in to Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune Admin center).
- Navigate to Devices > iOS/iPadOS and Configuration Profiles.
- To create a new profile for iOS devices, select Create Profile.
On Create a Profile window, select the Profile type as Settings Catalog. Click Create.
On the Basics tab of create profile, enter the profile name and description.
- Name: Configure Lock Screen Message for iOS devices.
- Description: Configure the content displayed on the login window and lock screen.
Click Next to continue.
With the Intune Settings catalog, you can choose which settings you want to configure. From the Configuration Settings tab, select +Add Settings.
The Settings picker window allows you to search for the required settings. From the list of settings, select System Configuration > Lock Screen Message. There are two settings included here:
- Asset Tag Information
- Lock Screen Footnote
In this example, I have selected both the settings. Close the Settings picker window.
The settings that we selected in the above step will be configured now. Enter the value for asset tag information and a brief lock screen note. Click Next.
In Intune, Scope tags determine which objects admins can see. On the Scope tags section, you specify scope tags. Click Next.
In the Assignments window, add the groups to which you want to apply the policy. I advise testing the lock screen message configuration on a small number of test users first, and then rolling it out to more users if the testing is successful. Click Next.
On the Review + Create page, review all the settings that you have defined to configure lock screen message for iOS devices with Intune and select Create.

After you create a configuration policy for iOS devices in Intune, a notification appears “Policy created successfully“. This confirms the policy is created and is being applied to groups that we selected. The new profile that we created to configure lock screen message appears under the list of Configuration Profiles in Intune.
You must wait for the policy to apply to the targeted groups, and once the iOS devices check-in with the Intune service, they will receive your profile settings. You can also force sync Intune policies on your computers. To monitor the deployment, select the policy and review the device and user check-in status.
The lock screen footnote should now appear on the iOS devices along with the asset tag information.
